Mental Health and Comedy

“It’s the stereotype, isn’t it? ‘All comedians are depressed!’ … They’re not, by the way…”

So says Cal Halbert – comedian and impressionist extraordinaire – as he opened up about mental health and comedy on NE Thing Funny (the radio show/podcast I produce and co-present).

For the past few shows we took a slightly different tactic and broadcast some in-depth interviews that touched on mental health, drug abuse, depression and anxiety as experienced by three North East based comedians. The most recent episode features Hal Branson and Seymour Mace.
